TO QUESTION ABOUT ORIGIN OF ONE FROM SYMBOLIC ATTRIBUTES OF THE GAGAUZIANWEDDING CEREMONY

Abstract
In this article authors turn the attention on one of symbolic attributes that takes place in the traditional wedding ceremony of Gagauz. Here an attempt is made to clarify the origin and symbolic value of the Gagauzian ritual flask (chotra) based on the analysis and comparing with the similar flasks from other Turkic peoples. The authors concluded that Gagauzian flask has an ancient Turkic origin as evidenced not only by visual similarity but also identity of the functional content of this attribute.
