Journal Title: Eminak - Year 2017, Vol 2, Issue 4
Abstract
The article deals with the problem of the activity of joint military youth (cadet) schools (JMYS) for the training of lower-level senior officers for the UNR Army in 1919-1921. There were studied the circumstances of the creation, the conditions of functioning and the specific features of the educational process of Zhytomyr JMYS, Kamianets JMYS and Divisional JMYS in Kalisz. It was identified a number of difficulties, first of all the material issues, with which the school management faced during their activities. It was noted the personal merit of the heads of educational institutions, in particular M. Shapoval, A. Hodylo-Hodylevskyi, who were able to bring the case to an end in difficult circumstances and graduate senior officers for the Ukrainian Army. The number of pupils and graduates of each school is given. The emphasis is on the fact that, in addition to theoretical training, the graduates also gained military experience, since they repeatedly combined their studies with activities at the front.
