Tribological Properties of Biodegradable Universal Tractor Transmission Oil
Journal Title: Tribology in Industry - Year 2016, Vol 38, Issue 2
Abstract
The annual consumption of lubricants in the world is around 40 million tons out of which less than 40 % are collected and properly processed meaning regeneration, re-refining and controlled incineration while the rest is disposed without control thus contaminating soil, water and atmosphere. It's one of the reasons that the last twenty years the environmentally friendly lubricants are more and more used. For the production of environmentally friendly lubricants are mostly used vegetable oil. In the field of the application of environmentally friendly lubricants attention should be given to the technical requirements including protection from the wear, corrosion protection, high load carrying properties and fulfilment of all the requirements imposed by the producer of the mechanical system. This paper presents development and testing of the biodegradable universal tractor transmission oil (UTTO) based on the vegetable oils. Tribological properties of the oils based on rapes oil, sunflower and soya, after corresponding testing, compared with the features of the commercially available mineral universal tractor transmission oil.

Wear and Corrosion Resistance of CrN-based Coatings Deposited by R.F Magnetron Sputtering
A comparative study was conducted to evaluate the performances against wear and corrosion of CrN, CrMoN, CrZrN, CrVN single layer thin films. The latest are synthesized onto steel substrates (DIN 90CrMoV8), using R.F rea...
Tribological and Wear Properties of Multi-Layered Materials
The usage of fabrics as reinforcements in composites is spreading due to fabrics’ properties. The use of fabrics allows obtaining of sinuous surfaces, for instance, unlike the use of prepregs. Using fabrics as reinforcem...
Monitoring Physical and Chemical Characteristics Oil for Lubrication
Different technical systems require for the appropriate lubricant to be used at the appropriate place, at the appropriate time and in an appropriate quantity. Determination of technical systems condition has very importa...
Self-Lubricating Composite Materials for Dry Friction
In certain applications under dry friction, the composites, containing small amount of solid lubricant, work very effectively. The copper matrix composite alloyed with metals and phosphorous and containing globular inclu...
Finite Element Analysis of Temperature Field in Automotive Dry Friction Clutch
The friction clutch design is strongly dependent upon the frictional heat generated between contact surfaces during the slipping at beginning of engagement. Because of that the frictional heat generated firstly will redu...
