Tubewave - Interactive Software Dedicated to Guided Waves in Tubes
Journal Title: Romanian Journal of Acoustics and Vibration - Year 2014, Vol 11, Issue 2
Abstract
The guided ultrasonic waves have become interesting alternatives to classical pulse-echo nondestructive testing in industrial piping systems. These guided waves have the capability to travel for several meters along pipes, bringing back to the emitting transducer information about possible defects. For this reason, researches were conducted in many laboratories of the world for the last decades. In our country such preoccupation is relatively recent. Benefiting from a national research project, our team has also developed original software to solve the dispersion curves of tubes. These dispersion curves provide the travel velocity of the guided waves, which are functions of frequency. In most cases, for a given frequency, there are many propagating waves with specific stress-displacements patterns, which are called guides modes. Using these velocities, the experimentalist can adjust the receiver to detect the selected mode, which can be used to detect defects. The present paper presents the capabilities of the specialized software pack “Tubewave”, developed by our team, for homogeneous, isotropic tubes, immersed in air or other light fluids.

Noise Attenuation Due to Vegetation
It is well-known that noise decreasing techniques are based on two types of methods: one active and another passive. The latter often employs the vegetation which is planted forming green protection zones areas. In this...
Finite Element Method based Algorithm for Localization of Damages in Cantilever Beams
This paper presents the researches made by the authors in order to develop an algorithm and method to localize damages in beams using vibration measurement. The chosen type of beam was the cantilever one, for which a dat...
Acoustical Materials – Sound Absorbing Materials Made of Pine Sawdust
In this paper different type of acoustical materials, like absorptive barrier materials, silencers, damping treatments and vibration isolators will be described and compared. The influence of the structure and way of pla...
Criteria of Stability for Equilibriums Described by Polynomial Characteristic Equations
In this paper are given some new criteria of stability for the equilibrium positions obtained by solving third, fourth and fifth degrees polynomials. These equations appear when the equation of motion has the form ẍ=f(x)...
Analysis of the Sound Field in Enclosures
Steady-state sound field in closed spaces may be calculated as a series of normal modes of oscilatings. Experimental results are not explained completely by this theory and for these differences should be an additional t...
