Journal Title: Erciyes Üniversitesi İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi Dergisi - Year 2017, Vol 49, Issue 1
Abstract
Existing winter tourism destinations should be developed and the potential regions should be used for tourism in order to use winter tourism as a means for regional development within the context of alternative tourism. This research aims to reveal consumer behaviors (motivation-satisfaction) of domestic visitors that participate in winter tourism within the context of the development of the existing winter tourism destinations. With this aim, a survey was conducted on 480 domestic visitors that visited Erciyes Ski Resort between December 2014 and March 2015. The survey compared the domestic visitors’ visiting motivations (relief, self-development, tranquility and socialization) with their visiting satisfaction (track, shopping, security, accommodation, trainer, transportation) in order to find if a meaningful relationship between the visiting motivations and visiting satisfaction. The study found that the visiting motivations of the domestic visitors that participate in winter tourism had a moderate impact over their visiting satisfaction. Besides, we found that visiting motivations of the visitors may be used for the development of ski resorts. The study concludes that the managers of the ski resorts should be supported and informed about the importance of the consumer behavior.
