Abstract
Changes in the social, cultural and economic environmental factors that the family is involved have affected the family purchasing decision-making process and the roles involved in this process. Considerable changes can be observed in the purchasing decision-making process within today’s families when compared to the one of traditional families. In this study, women’s role in the purchasing decisions of families living in the three largest cities of Southern Kazakhstan (Shymkent, Turkistan and Kentav) was investigated. To this end, the data were gathered via a survey from 453 Kazakh families living in Shymkent, Turkistan and Kentav. The data were analyzed via SPSS, and One Way ANOVA was applied to measure the differences between the dependent and independent variables. Eight products were involved in the purchasing decisionmaking process. The results revealed significant differences in terms of two demographic featureswomen’s occupations and educational backgrounds. In general, the findings overlap with the literature.
