Weapons: ‘Power of Hittite Gods and Kings’ II

Journal Title: Ankara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Dergisi - Year 2014, Vol 5, Issue 2

Abstract

In considering the equipment of Hittite armies we may well start from a recent definition of art of warfare as an attempt to achieve supremacy over the enemy in three fields: mobility, firepower, security. When we look at Hittite history, we have the feeling that the power of the Hittites is mostly based on war victories acquired by mighty kings combining important war equipment (chariots, powerful weapons) to well organized military forces and intelligent strategies helped by spies. Some Hittite weapons and Implements/Equipments of War: Chariot, Bow and Arrow, Quiver, Arrows, Spears, Shields, Armor, Helmets, Swords, Axes.”
