What do the students know about the muscles exercises in prevention and treatment of malocclusion?

Abstract
AIM: to test the level of knowledge about the functionsof muscles exercises, as one of the methods of orthodontictreatment, among the students of the V year of the DentistryFaculty Department of PAM as future dentists. Are theyaware of the possibility of using simple and effective methods,such as myotherapy in the prevention and early treatmentof malocclusion? Did they form their own opinionabout it during the studies? MATERIAL: for the needs ofthis study a 10-question anonymous inquire was created. Itwas conducted among 59 students of the V year of the dentistryfaculty of PAM. METHOD: the questions were speciallyconstructed to evaluate the level of knowledge and toask students for opinions about the myotherapy in preventionand treatment of malocclusion. Students judged theirown level of knowledge (concering muscular exercises) andanswered on a question: did you form your own opinionabout myotherapy during the studies? RESULTS: most ofthe students consider the muscles exercises as an effectivemethod of prophylaxis and malocclusion treatment. Most of examined students maintain that during the studies theydid not possess adequate knowledge and did not form theirown opinions in that matter. CONCLUSIONS: the musclesexercises as the simplest method of the orthodontictreatment, it is considered by the students as an effectivemethod which results are satisfactory and that’s parallelwith the view presented by many specialists.
