Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of Anisakis larvae in fresh herring being sold in Koszalin and the surrounding area. The paper discusses the results of parasitological section of 240 fish specimens purchased at three outlets located in Koszalin and fishing port Unieście and Kołobrzeg. The highest prevalence (26.8%), was recorded in fish purchased in the fishing port Unieście. It was observed increase in parasite larvae in the spring and autumn, winter and fall in the summer. A positive correlation between the intensity of infection and the total length of the fish was noted.
