Age-related aspects of bone tissue condition at chronic pancreatitis

Abstract

The fact that chronic pancreatitis (СP) affects mostly patients of employable age is one of the important factors of its social significance. Objective — to study the state of bone tissue of patients with СP of various ages on the basis of studying the densitometry indicators. Materials and methods. The study included 238 patients with СP of different ages with comorbidities of the musculoskeletal system (156 (65.5 %) women and 82 (34.5 %) men). The diagnosis of СP was verified based on the anamnesis, clinical protocols, and external and intrasecretory insufficiency. To examine the state of bone tissue, densitometric parameters were analyzed in the zones of the lumbar spine and femur. Results and discussion. The analysis of the state of bone tissue in young patients with osteodeficiency established that 13.87 % of patients under 30 years had osteodeficiency, and among our patients these were predominantly overweight men (BMI 28.7). Osteodeficiency of various degrees was present in 52.8 % of the patients, with 4.5 % of young patients having pathological changes in bone that confirmed the presence of osteoporosis. In the group of patients aged 31—45 years, the osteosclerosis signs were found in 5 patients with СP, osteopenia of the I—III degree in 52.0 % of patients, and osteoporosis in 14.5 % of patients. In the age group of 45—65, osteodeficiency was revealed in 72.9 % (74.8 % of men and 25.2 % of women respectively). Conclusions. The article presents the results of a survey of indicators of the state of bone tissue in СP, depending on the biological age. Based on the study of bone densitometric parameters in СP, it was established that the biological age of patients with СP is a reliable predictor of formation, as well as the depth of osteodeficiency, which is a component of trophological deficiency at СP.
