[b] N-Iodosuccinimide Annulated Heterocyclization or Environment Friendly Surfactant Based Iodine Promoted Heterocyclization in Aqueous Media of a number of 1-allylhydroxy Naphthalene Precursors: Which One is Superior?[/b]

Abstract
[i] A number of 2-(iodomethyl)-1,2-dihydronaphtho[2,1-b]furan derivatives have been synthesized from the corresponding allylhydroxy naphthalene precursors involving N-iodosuccinimide in acetonitrile and also by employing molecular iodine annulated 5-exo-trig cyclization in aqueous micelle using CTAB as surfactant and their comparative study revealed the superiority of the latter method.[/i]
