COMPONENTS OF THE ONOMASIOLOGICAL ROW WHICH EXPRESSES THE LANGUAGE MEANING OF ‘PURPOSE’

Abstract

At the heart of grammatical categories are linguistic meanings — the most common concepts of the linguistic world. They fall into categories implemented by onomasiological means of different levels, which form a series of onomasiological dismembered and undivided language units. The language meaning of ‘purpose’ are represented by the following onomasiological means of expression: word prepositional-case forms, lexical item, phrase nominant, which form onomasiological ranks. When expressed by the synthetic (undivided) method the language meaning ‘purpose’ is rendered by the pronoun, adverb, gerund, infinitive, case forms of the noun. The analytical way of expressing the linguistic meaning of ‘purpose’ presupposes prepositional-case forms, lexical item, equivalent to the word, phrases, equivalent to the word, free word combinations, phrasal nominants. The analysis shows that the number of components onomasiological expressing linguistic meaning of ‘purpose’ can be when synthetic expression — word (adverb, infinitive, pronoun), the analytical expression — prepositional case form, lexical item, free and related phrases, phrasal nominant. It is necessary to define the relations existing between the components and their onomasiological structure.
