Conceptual Approaches to Determining the Notion of the “State-Owned Bank”

Abstract
Annotation. Purpose. The aim of the research is to outline conceptual approaches of national and foreign scholars to the state-owned banks theoretical definitions. Methodology of research. The following modern scientific methods serve as a theoretical and methodological basis for the research: analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, comparison, systematization, and generalization. Findings. The analysis of the existing theoretical approaches to the state-owned bank definition and the role of these banks in the country’s economy makes it possible to single out main aspects which characterize the specific features of the concept under study. As a result, the author’s definition of the state-owned bank has been developed, which as different from the existing ones allows to embrace the interdependence between the banks functioning and the state policy. Practical value. The scientific findings can be used in revising the state-owned banks development strategy with the purpose of improving their current activities.
