CONSTITUTIONALISM AS A POLITICO-LEGAL DOCTRINE IN A COMPARATIVE HISTORICAL CONTEXT

Abstract
The article analyzes the historical and legal context of the formation and development of the modern doctrine of constitutionalism. Various definitions of constitutionalism, applied in the theory of constitutional law, and its signs as a social phenomenon, are analyzed. The process of formation and development of constitutionalism in European states is considered. The example of the constitutions of various states of the process of developing ideas about constitutional values and principles of building public life is compared. The modern doctrinal approaches to the essence of constitutionalism are singled out in the context of European interstate integration.
