DEVELOPMENT OF СROSS-CULTURAL COMMUNICATION IN ENGLISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES CLASSES

Abstract
The article is devoted to research of the process of organizing the development of cross-cultural communication in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) classes. The concept of "cross-cultural communication" is considered, mutual influence and interrelation of a person – his language – culture – communication are emphasized. The author focuses on the interdisciplinary, integrated approach to the teaching of ESP, which involves both the use of various types of art in their interaction, as well as other means of indirect communication (English-language resources of modern mass media); examples of communicative failures in situations of intercultural interaction. The article analyzes real-life situations of cross-cultural communication failures, giving examples of the complex of arts in the context of the topic "Ethical values". The author concludes that the achievement of mutual understanding in the process of intercultural communication is possible and depends not only on the level of knowledge of a foreign language, but also requires general cultural and specific background knowledge about life, traditions, norms, standards of behavior, which are inherent in foreign culture, and their correlation with the system of moral and spiritual values in one's own. So students learn how to carry on a dialogue in a foreign language with the representatives of different cultures on a private and professional level, taking into account personal attitudes, cultural values of the speaker in this preserving cultural identity and uniqueness.
