DEVELOPMENT OF THE FUTURE PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS’ SOCIO-CULTURAL COMPETENCE THROUGH INTEGRATION OF HUMANITARIAN AND NATURAL-MATHEMATICAL DISCIPLINES

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of development of sociocultural competence of future primary school teachers through integration of humanitarian and natural-mathematical disciplines. The urgency of the problem is caused by the process of reforming and modernizing educational system in Ukraine. It is proved that sociocultural competence is a constituent part of future teachers’ professional competence. The concept of sociocultural competence of a future teacher is specified. It is defined as an integrative personal phenomenon, which consists of sociocultural, sociolinguistic and subject-content elements. The authors give a detailed analysis of the concept "integration" in the context of specialists’ training in higher education institutions. In the context of studying the problem of development of the future primary school teachers’ sociocultural competence, the integration is considered as a purpose of education that contributes to development of a holistic picture of the world. It is closely correlated with the social phenomena that allow making the transition from education as a translation to education as a dialogue with culture. The authors use CLIL as a modern approach to integration a foreign language with the content of other disciplines. The importance of integration of the content of mathematical and foreign language training is emphasized. In the article, the following ways of development of sociocultural competence of the future primary school teachers through integration of the courses "Mathematics" and "Foreign Language" are presented: ensuring the complexity of learning; providing students’ independent work with tasks of a methodical character that can be used by future teachers in their further professional activities; refocusing of teacher-student communication on social value process.
