Abstract
Bishop José María Caparrós López was a clergyman from the town of Cehegín, this article deals with his relationship with the Murcian journalist José Martínez Tornel. This two men lived in the mid-nineteenth century, seeing their lives marked by “La Gloriosa”. Both left the Region during their lives, Tornel returned after studying and working in Madrid and Caparrós ended up returning as parish priest of the church of Santa María Magdalena de Cehegín.
