Abstract

The results of the study of the peculiarities of the regulation of the emotional state of women who suffered from psychological abuse in the family are presented in the article. Different scientific approaches to the study of self-regulation concepts, emotional self-regulation and psychological abuse are analyzed here. It is shown that family as a specific form of human coexistence plays an important role in the life of each person. Also, it is shown that the consequences of psychologi- cal abuse lead to violations of interpersonal interaction in the family and personal changes that include a range of negative experiences. Moreover, it is emphasized that psychological abuse in interactions is a stressful factor, therefore it is expedient to study the features of the emotional sphere of women, who exposed to this kind of abuse. The components of emotional self-regulation of women who have experienced psychological abuse are considered and analyzed here. It is alleged that the presence of such kind of abusive behavior of family members negatively affects on the processes of self-regulation of the emotional state. It has been established that women who were suffered from psychological abuse by their family members have reduced self-control skills and difficulties in understanding their own emotional experiences and emotions of other people. Analyzing the views of scientists on the features of emotional self-regulation as one of the characteristics of a person and the results of the conducted factor analysis, we can describe such components of emotional self-regulation as self-management and internal motivation, self- stabilization of the emotional sphere, emotional stability, self-control, emotional intelligence and self-understanding. It has been established that women who have experience in psychological abuse by members of their family (parents, siblings) have difficulties related to finding a solution to an unusual, non-standard situation, the need to find new solutions to exit from these crisis rela- tionships. There is a reduced ability to self-management. Also, with the presence of evidence of psychological abuse by parents and older generation in the family, the person’s adaptive potential of a woman decreases. In addition, psychological abuse of women is interlinked with emotional instability, which indicates difficulty in controlling emotions, impulsiveness of actions that can externally manifest in the absence of a sense of responsibility, capriciousness, etc. The results confirm that psychological abuse in relationships with parents weakens the general skills of self- control, which indicates a change in the ability to control their own actions, psychic phenomena. Self-control in the realm of emotions also weakens, because such abuse affects on the emotional sphere of the victim most of all, making it more sensitive and vulnerable. Such manifestations of psychological abuse from the side of the father, grandparents or grandmother, such as excessive control, emotional rejection, neglect, are related to difficulties in understanding their emotions, understanding their emotional states and their ability to manage them.
