Experimental determination of the wetting contact angle in nanomodified ceramic glaze
Journal Title: Вісник Одеської державної академії будівництва та архітектури - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 70
Abstract
The article deals with the classification of nanomaterials and the possibilities of their use in manufacture of construction ceramics and ceramic glaze. The research is aimed at determining possible ways of applying nanomaterials in the manufacturing of composite construction materials and study of their technological properties. The tests conducted for determining these qualities of nanomaterials application to construction ceramics basically succumb to comparative evaluation of the levels of moisturizing of the glaze’s surface by measuring the angle of the droplets curve, which exponentially grows as the moisturizing ability of the surface drops. The practical aim of these experiments is determination of whether the addition of nanoparticles to such construction materials as ceramic glaze contributes to achieving better produce as a result, as well as at development of such produce. Experimental ceramic glaze, as theorized, is thought of as less susceptible to pollution, and the main goal of the experiment is the achievement (through nanomodification) of such type of glaze which would require less effort and resources in sanitizing and general cleaning, hence would be more economical and practical compared to usual sanitation equipment used in construction. It has been determined that the maximum wetting angle (36.3º) has samples with a 9% slurry content of 2 g per 100 g of modified glaze, which is 1.9 times more than the reference glaze.
