Konceptualizacja wspomnień w polskim i rosyjskim przekładzie autobiografii Vladimira Nabokova Speak, memory. An Autobiography Revisited
Journal Title: ACTA POLONO-RUTHENICA - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 0
Abstract
The main aim of this article is to analyze the conceptualization of memories in Vladimir Nabokov’s memoir, Speak memory: An Autobiography Revisited and its Polish and Russian translations. The article uses the devices of cognitive linguistics. Nabokov’s text contains three types of conceptual metaphors based on visual effect: MEMORIES ARE A SERIES OF FLASHES, MEMORIES ARE PERSONAL GLIMMERS and TO RECOLLECT IS TO JOURNEY BACK. Such metaphorical images are conveyed in translations in which many semantic shifts and transformations occur.
