Abstract
School Reading Material in the Development of Language and Reading Competence of Audiovisual Early Shool Child A language is life’s modus operandi, playing a crucial role in recognizing the world and communication. In modern reality, where visual cultural paradigm has been determined, its role seems to be diminished in favour of picture and audiovisual transfers. If we correlate such an assumption with a theory that a contemporary younger pupil, acquiring habits of the society of civilization of performance, is a child living almost simultaneously in a real world and in a virtual one, operating the code of new media, and a form of existence of a language is a text, then analyzing reading material through the lens of developing language competence of an audiovisual early school child seems to be essential. On the other hand reading initiation with the biggest influence takes place in the determined by Joanna Papuzińska zone one (family) and zone two (didactic), which proves that it is necessary to organize carefully literary and language education on the first stage of school. This thesis is attempting to search for the concept of educational practice, which develops reading and language competence of audiovisual younger pupil and which would constitute a constructive response to this state of affairs.
