Les pratiques langagières des jeunes bab el ouediens dans le film "Omar Gatlato Eradjla" de Merzak Allouache
Journal Title: Argotica - Year 2017, Vol 0, Issue 1
Abstract
Language practices of young Bab el Ouediens in the film Omar Gatlato Eradjla by Merzak Allouache The last few years have seen a growing interest of linguists in the way in which Al-gerian sociolinguistic realities are interpreted, reworked and represented in the arts of speech; however, cinema seems to be set aside from this trajectory. Indeed, very little work has done on the Algerian cinema and even less on those dealing with its verbal dimension. Actually, Algerian cinema or at least some filmic productions constitute a source of previous data capable of offering to the linguist a fertile ground of study inherent in the linguistic landscape of Algerian society. At least, it is the case of the Algerian film Omar Gatlato Eradjla, which will constitute the corpus of this article. The film immerses us in the daily life of a group of urban young peo-ple into large urban areas groups where unemployment, housing crisis, insecurity... make their common lot. From intentionally, the film characters are made using the common language manly Algiers traditional slang, however punctuated by innova-tive features to bring it up to. This article, which falls within the framework of ar-gotology, focuses on the staging of the linguistic practices of film characters and elicits examples of linguistic facts that function doubly: a recovery of a culture pre-sumably however and resistance to imposed a language standards.
