Abstract
Cu toate că a constituit, de multe ori, o piatră de încercare, explorarea argoului cu instrumentele ştiinţelor limbajului s-a bucurat de interes în lingvistica occidentală. Se poate chiar aprecia că cercetarea argotismelor s-a realizat adesea din unghi interdisciplinar, în condiţiile în care principalii parametri ai variaţiei lingvis-tice – variaţia diacronică, variaţia diatopică, variaţia diastratică şi variaţia diafa-zică – au fost avuţi în atenţie din perspectiva unor preocupări ştiinţifice aflate la confluenţa lingvisticii cu psihologia, sociologia, antropologia sau semiotica.
