Organizational and legal issues of the provision of legal aid by a lawyer to a witness at the pre-trial investigation

Abstract
The article is devoted to the consideration of organizational and legal issues of the provision of legal aid by a lawyer to a witness at the pre-trial investigation. The author analyses the main approaches to the definition of the concepts of “witness” and “the provision of legal aid by a lawyer to a witness” in the legal literature. On the basis of theoretical legal research, the author defined the concept of “witness” and proposed a classification of categories of witnesses, which can receive a lawyer’s legal help at the pre-trial investigation. Proceeding from the norms of the current legislation, as well as from practical experience, the author proposes amendments to the current legislation in order to improve the organizational and legal activities of a lawyer during the provision of legal help to a witness at the pre-trial investigation.
