PERCEPÇÃO DA CRIANÇA SOBRE A HOSPITALIZAÇÃO MEDIADA PELO BRINQUEDO TERAPÊUTICO INSTRUCIONAL

Abstract

INTRODUCTION - The activity directed through the Therapeutic Toy provides freedom, stimulates motor activity, creativity, teaches how to deal with conflict situations, and expresses internalized content, enabling intervention in face of their challenges. OBJECTIVE - To understand the child's perception of the hospitalization process during the instructional therapeutic play session. METHOD - This is a qualitative approach guided by a semi-structured script with 25 children hospitalized in the pediatric ward of a public university hospital, using a methodological framework of content analysis according to Bardin. RESULTS - during the approach, there was interaction of the child, handling of the instruments, curiosity with the unknown objects and affinity with hospital materials that presented previous approach. They reported experiences and feelings that permeated these moments. CONCLUSION: the use of the instructional therapeutic toy as an adjunctive practice to treatment provides humanized assistance, being applicable to the daily practice of the pediatric inpatient unit.
