PRACTICAL ORIENTATION OF THE COURSE «THE LANGUAGE OF MASS MEDIA: THE HISTORY AND THE PRESENT» IN THE SYSTEM OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF PHILOLOGIST – INFOCOMMUNICATION SPECIALISTS

Abstract
The relevance of the topic under study is substantiated in the article. The emphasis is made on the fact that in the modern Ukrainian linguistics the study of changes in the selection and use of linguistic means in a journalistic style noticeably intensified. This is the result of the influence of changes and transformations in the social, political, economic, scientific and cultural spheres of Ukraine. Modern social communications media have become one of the main sources of studying the state of language development at a certain historical stage. There are a lot of scientific works, devoted to the study of the language of mass media. However, there are not enough practical recommendations for the assimilation of linguistic-stylistic peculiarities of various genres of mass-media discourse, the uniqueness of the functioning of lexical, phraseological, morphological, word-formation and syntactic means in the language of the MMC, the development of its own speech style. It is emphasized that the educational discipline «The Language of Mass Media: the History and the Present» is aimed at familiarizing master`s students, specializing at «Media Communication» with the language practice of the Ukrainian printed and electronic mass media in different historical periods. The discipline is also aimed at the multilingual speech development, the awareness of the communicative mission, representative and cultural functions of the Ukrainian language in mass media, the formation of a professional broadcasting culture of the philologist, who works with printed and electronic texts. The author also proposes a number of tasks through which students develop the ability to use different units of language in everyday and professional communications, in oral and written forms, to be able to improve their own linguistic competence. The proposed exercises provide for the students` development of critical and creative linguistic thinking, responsibility for oral and written speech. All these abilities help to gain professional competence.
