Reduction of negative environmental impact generated by residues of plant tissue culture laboratory
Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2016, Vol 16, Issue 1
Abstract
The research is based on the activity developed by teaching and research laboratories for biotechnology purposes with an environmental approach to determine potential contamination risk and analyze the residuals generated. The physical - chemical characterization of the residuals was carried out from contamination indicators that can affect the dumping of residual water. In order to identify the environmental risks and sources of microbial contamination of plant material propagated by in vitro culture that generate residuals, all the risk activities were identified, the type of risk involved in each activity was analyzed, as well as whether or not the standards were met of aseptic normative. The dilution and neutralization was proposed for residuals with extreme values of pH. Since the results of the work a set of measures was proposed to reduce the negative environmental impact of the laboratory residuals.

Methodological procedure for conformation, implementation and improvement of quality systems for biofactories
There are a number of reports and references on quality, which broadly covered the concepts, bases, importance, techniques and methods, but only theorically. This issue enables the existence of quality systems limited t...
In vitro response of Phaseolus vulgaris L. seeds cultivar 'Ica Pijao' irradiated with different doses of Gamma radiation
The lower yields in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) worldwide is due primarily to abiotic factors. For this reason the search for tolerant varieties is one of the objectives of the breeding programs in this species....
Selection of Azotobacter chroococcum strains for its application on in vitro pineapple cv. ‘Cayena lisa’ plants acclimatization
Azotobacter chroococcum is a rhizosphere bacterium that has been used for decades as a plant growth stimulator in a wide range of crops. It is able to fix nitrogen and produce growth promoting substances. In the presen...
Field evaluation of genetic stability in plants obtained by somatic embryogenesis of cv. ‘FHIA 21’ hybrid (Musa AAAB)
The present work was carried to evaluate the genetic stability in plants obtained by somatic embryogenesis of cv. hybrid ‘FHIA 21’ (Musa AAAB) in field. A number of 6 252 plants were planted and 2 000 plants obtained by...
Callus formation of Persea americana Mill. Catalina cultivar starting from in vitro plant leaf segments
ABSTRACT The importance of establishing protocols for the regeneration of fruit-trees through out the organogenesis and the somatic embryogenesis is based on the possibility to use them in the propagation of the specie...
