Research progress on in vitro models of pulmonary fibrosis
Journal Title: Journal of Air Force Medical University - Year 2023, Vol 44, Issue 7
Abstract
In recent years, the incidence of pulmonary fibrosis is increasing year by year, and 10% of patients with coronavirus disease 2019 will also develop pulmonary fibrosis injury-like lesions. However, there is still no major breakthrough in the pathogenesis and drug treatment of pulmonary fibrosis, which is mainly related to the fact that previous studies based on 2D models and animal models of pulmonary fibrosis cannot well simulate the human lung microenvironment. With the continuous development of biotechnology, in vitro 3D lung models, precision-cut lung slice, lung-on-a-chip and lung organoids have gradually played an important role in the study of pulmonary fibrosis. This paper intends to summarize the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of these in vitro models of pulmonary fibrosis, so as to provide a reference for the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis and drug screening.
