TEACHING PHYSICS AND PEDAGOGICAL SKILLS OF A UNIVERSITY TEACHER

Abstract
School practice, results of External Independent Testing Assessment and entrance examinations show that students do not suffi ciently understand the concept of physics as a unique discipline that develops over time as a system of knowledge about nature. Knowledge of physics that school students acquire is rather a disparate set of facts and laws. The article describes the main features and ways to improve pedagogical skills of teachers of physics in higher education institutions: the formation of pedagogical skills of a university lecturer associated with the continuous improvement of scientifi c content and methodology of lectures, experience in holding seminars, practical and laboratory work. The article also deals with the analysis of some aspects of teaching physics, especially in higher education institutions. The most effi cient is the educational performance that takes into account the psychology of the audience, patterns of perception, peculiarities of attention, thinking skills as well as students’ emotional and volitional processes.
