Journal Title: Науковий вісник Південноукраїнського національного педагогічного університету імені К. Д. Ушинського - Year 2017, Vol 119, Issue 6
Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of the future Chinese translator / interpreter training at Ukraine’s pedagogical institutions of higher education. The place of the abovementioned training within the pedagogical system of higher school is specified in the article. The main basic notions such as “pedagogical activity”, “professional and pedagogical activity” are analysed. The success of the training under study is associated with teacher’s educating activities which are carried out. The notion “pedagogical activity” is understood as scientific and practical activities that provide the relationship between the teacher and the student ‒ future translator (interpreter) while transferring him / her spiritual and practical experience of mankind (the culture within the three countries ‒ Ukraine, China, Great Britain / the USA) from generation to generation. The subject of the pedagogical activity which facilitates the training of future translators is a selected part of the cultural contents in representation of Ukraine, China, Great Britain / the USA contributing to the student’s achievement of the ultimate goal. Specific vocational pedagogical activity is interpreted as sociometric performing meta-activity, the content of the student’s consciousness (operations, operands) being of great importance in its implementation. It is highlighted that the designated content can be accumulated in the process of carrying out educational and cognitive activities by the student himself/herself. The teacher’s professional pedagogical activity is also associated with these professionally significant qualities of the teacher’s personality ‒ initiative, persistence, empathy, sobriety, competence, self-confidence, resourcefulness, criticality, self-control, flexibility, sociability, etc. Five groups of pedagogical skills which seem to be necessary for effective training targeted to the future translators of the Chinese language are presented in the article: 1) project-oriented; 2) constructive; 3) organizational; 4) communicative; 5) gnostic. A scale which enables assessing pedagogical skills of the teachers who train future translators of the Chinese (and English) language is proposed within the described approach. The issue concerning the training of future translators-sinologists who are able to successfully operate within a global scale implies its (training) improvement in the context of Ukraine’s Euro-integration, on the one hand; on the other hand, ‒ within the framework of the “One Belt, One Way” program initiated by the Government of the People's Republic of China. Therefore, perspectives of the research are seen in the further study of the pedagogical phenomenon “future Chinese (and English) translators’ readiness for the professional (translation) activity” within the designated framework of the Ukraine – China relationship.
