The Reader in the Minds of F. V. Bulgarin

Abstract
The article deals with the fundamental concepts of the author's strategy of F. V. Bulgarin. The paper concentrates on the main reasons for his literary success depending on his beliefs about the addressee of his work. Much attention is given to F. V. Bulgarin. He was the first Russian writer, who investigated the readership discriminatingly, dividing it into social strata. The author highlights that each strata must be addressed to the works of a certain aesthetic and ethical orientation. In fact, the writer becomes the servant of his audience, fulfilling her wishes. The author comes to the conclusion that it brings quick success, but in the historical perspective foredooms to oblivion.
