Use of planning methods in adolescents aged 11 to 19 and their relationship with pregnancy prevention

Abstract

Introduction: Adolescence is a stage of life characterized by multiple psychological, physiological, biological, sociocultural changes, as well as a great vulnerability and high incidence of pregnancies according to the World Health Organization Health (WHO). This body reveals that teenage pregnancy is a global public health priority, especially for Latin America, with Ecuador being the third country in the region with the highest rate of pregnancy in adolescents (10-19 years). Objective: to describe the use of planning methods in adolescents 11 to 19 years old and its relationship with the prevention of pregnancies. Materials and Methods: It consists of a bibliometric review of the subject under study, which includes compilation, analysis, classification and organization of information, as well as description and writing of the same. It is a study of the systematic, qualitative, documentary type. Results: Results of great importance to know and consider the physical and developmental changes psychosocial that occur in adolescence, this allows us to understand the risks to which the pregnant adolescent is exposed, which provides the opportunity to put programs are underway to promote healthy behaviors, a good lifestyle, good behavioral practices. Conclusion: The prevention of pregnancy in adolescents should be intervened on time with the knowledge and correct use of the methods of planning. It is suggested to design programs and intervention strategies that allow acquire the appropriate knowledge and use of family planning methods in all adolescents, for the prevention of early and unwanted pregnancies.
