LINGUO8DIDACTIC MODEL OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE SELF-LEARNING WHILE WRITING AND PRESENTATION OF THEMATIC REPORTS

Abstract

The most actual task facing scientists today is to teach young people self&learning methods to give them the opportunity to broaden their professional knowledge independently. Therefore this article focuses on the process of developing English language self&learning skills in students of the humanities in out&of&class work. In the course of research the concept “English language self&learning” has been defined and one of its kinds namely writing thematic reports and their presentation has been specified. Proceeding from it the linguo&didactic model of its realization has been elaborated. According to the model in the process of self&learning while writing thematic reports and their presentation students realize ten goals. Their achievement is guaranteed through performing of the following methodical actions: the choice of necessary information on headings and keywords; the translation of the language material by means of the dictionary and checking of understanding of grammar structures which are being studied and which were studied earlier; the proof of opinions which coincide with points of view of other authors; the proof of opinions which are different from points of view of other authors; the suggestion of own ways of the solution of problems under study; the oral presentation of the report; the answers to the questions of listeners; the calculation of the gained professional knowledge and foreign language skills. After students perform all these actions they will be able to develop in themselves such skills as independent search and selection of the material they are interested in, its interconnection and logical grouping, its comparison with the information which they learnt earlier, its memorizing and practical use. Apparently from the presented model the process of the English language self&learning while writing and presentation of thematic reports has an integrated character. It is shown that improving abilities of foreign language speech activity, students deepen the nowledge in the spere which is studied in the report. They also gain primary abilities of scientific activity connected with the necessity to choose the main thing and to abstract from the secondary and to maintain scientific style of the speech during all the presentation of the report before the listeners. Such activity improves foreign language skills of students and creates the bases for their future professional competence.
