SYNTACTIC EXERCISES IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE LINGUOCULTURAL ASPECT

Abstract
The urgent task of contemporary philological education is to involve students into national culture on the basis of their native language, that is, the introduction of the linguocultural approach, the methodological principles of which are the provisions on the interrelated study of a language and culture, the doctrine about the concept as the main cell of culture in the human being’s mental world. The article is aimed at developing a system of syntactic exercises from the standpoint of the linguocultural approach within the framework of the training course “Syntax of the Ukrainian Language”. The works of M. Kotsiubynskyi, the classic of Ukrainian literature, were used as the didactic material. The method of studying scientific literature on the designated problem was used in order to determine the problem of the pedagogical research and evaluate the obtained facts. Thus, syntactic exercises are often classified according to the nature of the performed operations (analytical, reconstructive, constructive). The elaborated system of exercises is based on the theoretical provisions, as follows: gradual complication of tasks based on their didactic function, features of reproductive and productive activities; reliance on the text as the main unit of communication and expression of national culture; taking into account the national-cultural specificity of the language system and, on this basis, a harmonious combination of the communicative and cognitive activities. These leading empirical research methods were used: observation of the learning process of the students who study at the Philological Departments and analysis of their written works, which allowed us to test the efficiency of using the methodological tools of modern Linguocultural Studies in the process of developing a system of syntactic exercises. The increase in the number of the cumulative-analytical, associative-analytical, cognitively-reconstructive and creative tasks at the lessons devoted to syntax positively influenced the enrichment of students’ knowledge and skills in the specified branches (syntax and linguoculturology), contributed to the formation of the cultural personality of the students who study at the Philological Departments as well as the expansion of the national and cultural educational space. Based on the observations of the students’ educational activity in practical classes devoted to syntax, the conditions for the effective implementation of the system of language and speech assignments combined with the linguocultural ones (the use of the system of interdisciplinary links, methods of linguistic and conceptual modelling, conceptual analysis, etc.) were determined.
