NANOINDENTATION TEST FOR DLC COATING ANALYSIS
Journal Title: Materials Engineering - Materialove inzinierstvo (MEMI) - Year 2011, Vol 18, Issue 3
Abstract
In this report the effects of the substrate on the microhardness of Diamond like carbon (DLC) thin films were investigated. The DLC coatings were deposited by Radio Frequency Plasma Actived Chemical Vapor Deposition (RF PACVD; 13,56 MHz) process on three mechanically polished substrates, which were chosen for comparison; hardened molybdenum high speed steel AISI M2, unhardened tool steel AISI L2 and titanium alloy TiAl6V4. The aim of the present investigation was to determine the influence of substrates on microhardness and other mechanical properties of DLC layer. These properties especially microhardness were studied and compared from nanoindentation load – displacement curves. Results show that the hardness of the substrate is the crucial value for the hardness of the DLC films.

High temperature degradation of powder-processed Ni-based superalloy
The aim of present work is to study the high temperature degradation of the powder-processed polycrystalline superalloy Ni-15Cr-18Co-4Al-3.5Ti-5Mo. This superalloy has been applied as material for grips of a creep machin...
Analysis of the austenitic stainless steel's r-value behavior at elevated temperatures
An analysis of the anisotropy properties of austenitic steel AISI 304 (X5CrNi18-10) at elevated temperatures is presented in this paper. Considerations of the anisotropy problems are presented in the theoretical part of...
Fatigue life analysis of die forged railway axle manufactured from C30 steel
With respect to the manufacturing process, different parts of one structural component can have different fatigue properties. In this study, the fatigue life of a railway axle manufactured from C30 steel by die forging i...
Corrostion resistance of the welded AISI 316L after various surface treatments
The main aim of this work is to monitor the surface treatment impact on the corrosion resistance of the welded stainless steel AISI 316L to local corrosion forms. The excellent corrosion resistance of austenitic st...
Degradation of Czechoslovak creep resistant steels after 50 years of service
Thermally loaded assemblies in the energy and chemical industries require materials that provide the necessary functional characteristics, even after very long periods of operation. For the assessment of these materials...
